Friday, June 6 7:00-10:30 Highlands North Gym
Tickets for the 8th grade dinner dance were sold last week in the cafeteria. The attire for the dance is "Sunday Best", no gowns.  See attached rules.  Only Highlands students may attend the dance, no outside "dates".

We are in need of beverage and dessert donations to make this event successful.  Specifically, we are looking for 2-liter bottles of Coke, Diet Coke, Orange Soda and Sprite.  It would be wonderful if donations could be made by the case, but all donations including single bottles are greatly appreciated.    We are also looking to collect donations of cases of small water bottles as well as sport water bottles.  Desserts such as brownies, cookies, cupcakes or pastries are great desserts for easy handling at the dance.  Beverages may be dropped off at school any time up until May 30th, and desserts can be dropped off Thursday June 5th or Friday June 6th.

Please email Jerilyn Myers at with your planned donation.  Thank you in advance.

The White Plains Mathematics Department is pleased to announce that we will be piloting Glencoe Math for the second half of the school year.  Each student in grades 6-8, with the exception of Algebra*, has been provided a Glencoe Math textbook to support learning.  Students will also be provided a unique username and password in order to access Glencoe Math online resources.  We encourage you to use these resources and the guidelines below to support your child in his or her study of mathematics:

  • Know what concepts are important for your kids based on their grade level and spend time working on those concepts
  • Be aware of what concepts your child struggled with last year and support your child in those challenge areas moving forward
  • Help your child know and memorize basic math facts. Ask your child to “do the math” that pops up in daily life
  • Talk to your children about their math homework and ask them to teach you new concepts. Help them figure out ways to explain their thinking
  • Provide time every day for your child to work on math at home

If you have any questions, please contact Greg Gorman, the Coordinator for K-12 Mathematics at 914 422 2152 or email at  *students in Algebra have had use of a textbook since the start of the school year.
