The best part about my summer vacation was my travels. My goal is to travel to all 50 states in the U.S. and I was able to visit three new states this summer... Illinois, Wisconsin and South Carolina. (Now I have visited 27 of the 50 states.)
Each place was unique and special in its own way. I got to visit Chicago in Illinois with my good friend Mrs. Adlman. (Some of you may have had her as your kindergarten teacher.) Chicago is an urban area and somewhat similar to New York City. There were many skyscrapers, lots of cars, buses, trains, people and places to shop and eat. One of my favorite things to see while in Chicago was the Cloud Gate (a.k.a. The Bean) located in Millenium Park.
After Chicago, Mrs. Adlman and I drove to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This was a rural area. There was a lot more open land, fewer people, cars, and shops. I didn't see any buses or trains while there. My favorite part of Lake Geneva was going horse back riding!
A week and a half after returning from the mid-west, I was off to visit my parents who live in North Carolina. They live in a small rural town. Every where you go you see open fields with tobacco, corn and cotton crops. There are lots of cows and horses grazing in the fields. After staying at my parents for a few days, my mom and I drove to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My sister met us there. It was great having a trip with just the girls! We had a terrific time! My favorite part of Myrtle Beach was strolling along the beach with my sister.
We did a day trip to Charleston, South Carolina. I've always wanted to visit, so I was excited that it was only a short drive from Myrtle Beach. Charleston is so charming! It is an old southern city, with lots of history, friendly people and good food. I hope to go back again and spend more time.
After South Carolina, it was back to North Carolina to spend more time with both my mom and dad. Spending time with the two of them is always the highlight of my visit there.
Now that you know a little bit about my summer vacation....how did you spend your vacation? I hope to hear from you.
