The third grade team has collaborated with Mrs. Rosenfeld, one of Ridgeway’s art teachers in the “Owl” unit of study. Third grade students have begun exploring the wonderful world of the owl through the dissection of an owl pellet. Studying the bones found in an owl pellet, students classified the bones and determined which kind of prey the owl hunted. Students also made connections to the human skeletal and digestive systems to that of the owls. In art class, Mrs. Rosenfeld helped by highlighting the physical features of an owl. In turn, the students created artistic representations of an owl embodying their learning.
