In order to take the New York State Regents exam in June, a student must satisfatorily complete 1200 minutes of laboratory time.  Lab papers are collected, graded , returned to the students for review and discussion. They are then filed in a permanent individual lab folder.  This folder must be kept by the teacher for one year after the course is finished.

Labs are a fun and important way to reinforce concepts learned in the Living Environment course. Some of the skills learned include use and care of the microscope, indicator tests,  use of dichotomous keys, measurement using the metric system, and designing a controlled experiment.  Safety rules are discussed and emphasized for all labs.
