March 19WPCSD Budget Forum  7:30pm B-1 WPHS (North St. entrance side)
The bottom line is that the District will need to cut approximately $800,000 from the schoolbudget and the District is looking for input from the community! This is the 5thyear in a row that WP School district has needed to make major cuts. The general consensus from the people that attended the meeting was that the District should look at creative ways to generate revenue rather than cutpersonnel or programs or increase class sizes. Some suggestions were to searchfor corporate sponsors for the fields, how to further utilize the Foundationfor Public Education and look into solar panels to say on energy costs. BOE Meeting presentations will be on March 10th &  May 12th, 7:30pm at Ed House
March 27      The Guidance Department presents "Standardized Testing"
                          7:30pm - Media Center

This program is designed for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students and parents/guardians. This evening is all about college entrance exams: the SAT, the ACT, the SAT IIs (subject tests). What are they? When should you take them? How many times/how many tests should you take? How are these used by colleges in their admissions process? These are the questions that we will answer over the course of this eve-ning. Some students begin taking SAT Subject Tests as early as their sophomore year, so we encourage all freshmen, sophomore and junior parents and students to take advantage of this presentation.

April 24     The Guidance Department presents "Non-College Options:
Technical and Trade Schools, Military, Gap Year Program"
                      7:30pm - Media Center
This program is designed for junior and senior students and their parents/guardians. Some students need post-secondary alternatives to a direct progression to a two or four-year college or university program. A variety of presenters will be on hand to talk to you about technical and trade schools, all branches of the Military and gap year programs. Every student who graduates from high school should leave with a plan of action, and as many options as possible should be considered in that plan. Many options other than college can lead to a satisfying and rewarding career. Any one of the options that will be presented this evening may lead a student back to college at a later date, or perhaps not. Nonetheless, any one of them can lead a student to a fulfilling future.
